The purpose of business analytics is to collect, organize and analyze business data and derive business intelligence and insights to help businesses function optimally, improve processes, change policies and introduce new technologies.

Enabled by emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning, businesses have evolved into big data-driven processes. Demand for graduates with data analytics knowledge and skills has exploded, while the field itself is still evolving and changing rapidly, with new strategies, tools and techniques coming daily.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (2021) reports that analytical job roles are growing rapidly. There are different career paths and growth outlooks for jobs related to business analytics between 2020 and 2030:

学生 in the business analytics track complete the major in business administration and 21 units in the track, of which 18 units are required courses and 3 units are electives.

All courses that count toward the major must be completed with a grade equivalent of 2.00 or higher. Admission to the BUAD major requires an average GPA of 2.7 or higher in the six courses required for admission. A grade of C or higher is required in each individual course. 所需总单位：72-76。
